Walking for a Cure: Gary’s Inspiring Fight Against Alzheimer’s
At ServiceMaster, our commitment to giving back is rooted in personal stories that inspire us to make a difference. For Gary, one of our dedicated team members, the fight against Alzheimer’s is deeply personal.
In 2023, Gary’s mom was diagnosed with a brain tumor and dementia. Navigating this challenging time was made a little easier thanks to the support and resources he found through the Alzheimer’s Association and Lifesavers. These connections offered hope and guidance when it was needed most.
ServiceMaster of Salem proudly sponsored the 2024 Salem Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Gary not only served on the event’s committee but also led the volunteer efforts for setup and logistics. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care and research, bringing together participants of all ages in the fight to end this devastating disease.
Gary’s hard work and dedication to the cause did not go unnoticed. He was recently honored with a plaque at the Salem Celebration at Fieldstone Village, recognizing his unwavering commitment and leadership.
We’re incredibly proud of Gary and grateful for his passion and big heart. His story reminds us why we donate: because the impact is personal, and together, we can make a difference.
Thank you, Gary, for being an inspiration to us all.

Spreading Holiday Cheer: A Decade of Giving with Toys for Tots
At ServiceMaster, the holiday season isn’t just about lights and decorations—it’s about creating moments of joy and hope for those who need it most. For the past ten years, we’ve proudly partnered with the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program to collect and donate toys for children in need. This tradition is more than an act of giving; it’s a reflection of our heart and values.
For many of us at ServiceMaster, the holidays evoke memories of wonder and warmth. We remember the excitement of unwrapping gifts, the magic of shared moments with family, and the feeling of being loved. Not every child gets to experience this, and that’s why this cause is so deeply personal to us. We believe every child deserves a chance to feel the magic of the season, no matter their circumstances.
Each toy we collect carries with it the hope of a smile and the promise of a brighter day. Whether it’s a doll that becomes a cherished companion, a truck that sparks imaginative adventures, or a puzzle that brings a sense of accomplishment, these gifts are more than objects—they’re tokens of care and connection.
Over the past decade, we’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of our team members, customers, and community partners. Together, we’ve filled countless bins with toys, each one destined to light up a child’s holiday. This effort has become a cornerstone of our holiday season, a reminder of the good we can achieve when we come together.
To everyone who has contributed to this mission over the years: thank you. You’ve helped make the holidays a little brighter for countless children, and your kindness has left a lasting impact. As we look ahead, we’re excited to continue this heartfelt tradition, spreading joy and hope one toy at a time.

Honoring Heroes: Our Commitment to Supporting Veterans
At ServiceMaster, supporting our veterans isn’t just an initiative—it’s a commitment rooted in gratitude and respect. Through our partnership with Hire Heroes, we’ve had the privilege of giving back to those who have given so much for our country. This effort isn’t just about donations; it’s deeply personal to us. Here’s why.
The men and women who serve in our armed forces dedicate their lives to protecting the freedoms we often take for granted. Their courage, resilience, and selflessness inspire us every day. Supporting Hired Heroes is our way of honoring their sacrifice and ensuring they have the resources they need to transition into civilian life.
For many on our team, this mission hits close to home. Some of us have family members who have served, while others are veterans themselves. We’ve seen the challenges they face when returning to civilian life—from finding stable employment to building a new routine. By supporting Hire Heroes, we’re helping ease that transition and creating opportunities for those who have given so much.
When we support veterans, we strengthen our communities. Veterans bring unmatched skills, leadership, and dedication to the workplace. By helping them find meaningful employment, we’re not only giving back to individuals but also enriching the communities we serve.
At the heart of this effort is our belief that no one who has served our country should feel forgotten or unsupported. Every donation, every volunteer hour, and every word of encouragement is a small way of saying “thank you” to those who have done so much for us.
As we continue to partner with Hire Heroes, we’re reminded of the power of collective action and the importance of standing with those who have stood for us. To everyone who has joined us in this cause: thank you. Together, we’re making a difference, one veteran at a time.

Empowering Families, Shaping Stronger Futures
At ServiceMaster, our mission goes beyond cleaning and restoration—it’s about giving back to the communities that mean so much to us. Supporting Family Building Blocks is personal to us because we see the difference their work makes for families and children every day. From food pantries and clothing closets to therapeutic classrooms and family mental health services, their programs are a lifeline for so many in need.
Family Building Blocks meets families where they are, offering essential tools like home visiting, respite care, parent education, and early head start programs. They ensure that families feel supported, basic needs are met, and children are nurtured in safe, loving environments. Their mission aligns with our belief in the power of community and the importance of creating opportunities for every child to thrive.
One way we show our commitment is through the annual April Diaper Drive, which helps new moms in our community access essential yet often overlooked resources: diapers and diaper wipes. This drive directly supports the health and well-being of babies, giving parents one less worry as they build a stronger future for their families. During April, we will be accepting diaper and diaper wipe donations at our offices in Salem and Corvallis to make it easy for our community to join us in supporting this vital cause.
We are also proud to serve as table hosts during Family Building Blocks’ annual fundraiser in the fall. This event brings together community members and supporters to celebrate and sustain the critical programs that uplift families. It’s an opportunity to come together, share stories, and make a lasting impact for those who need it most.
Partnering with Family Building Blocks is our way of investing in hope. Every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment, and every family deserves the support to make that possible. Together, we can create lasting change and build a stronger, healthier community.
Thank you for helping babies in our community from the BOTTOM up!

At ServiceMaster, we believe in creating a positive impact in the communities we serve. One of the partnerships we are particularly proud of is our ongoing collaboration with ShelterCare in Eugene. ShelterCare is a remarkable nonprofit organization dedicated to providing housing, mental health services, and support for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of losing their homes. Their work has transformed countless lives, offering stability and hope to those who need it most.
ShelterCare's mission is simple yet powerful: to provide care and resources that help individuals and families regain their footing and thrive. From transitional housing to mental health support, they address the root causes of homelessness and work tirelessly to break the cycle. Their programs serve diverse needs, including individuals recovering from brain injuries, families transitioning out of shelters, and those navigating mental health challenges. ShelterCare’s holistic approach ensures that people not only find a place to live but also receive the support necessary to rebuild their lives.
Our involvement with ShelterCare has been one of our most significant nonprofit commitments in Eugene, second only to our annual Toys for Tots drive. For two consecutive years, we have proudly sponsored and participated in ShelterCare’s "Run For Your Life" 5K run. This event is more than just a race—it’s a celebration of community and a fundraiser that directly supports ShelterCare’s programs.
Each year, our team joins hundreds of participants in the 5K run, coming together to raise awareness and funds for ShelterCare. Beyond sponsorship, our employees actively take part, sharing stories, and showing our collective commitment to making Eugene a better place for everyone. The energy and camaraderie at the event are truly inspiring, reminding us why this cause matters so deeply.
At ServiceMaster, we understand that a thriving community depends on the well-being of its members. Our partnership with ShelterCare reflects our shared vision of creating a stronger, more compassionate Eugene. By supporting ShelterCare’s vital work, we are not only helping individuals and families but also contributing to a healthier, more resilient community.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside ShelterCare and play a part in their incredible journey. Together, we’re building a future where everyone has the chance to find stability, dignity, and hope.
We invite you to learn more about ShelterCare and how you can get involved. Whether it’s participating in next year’s "Run For Your Life" 5K, volunteering your time, or making a donation, every effort makes a difference. Let’s work together to support this amazing organization and continue to make Eugene a place where everyone can thrive.

Inspiring Youth, Creating Future Leaders
At ServiceMaster, we believe in the power of community and are proud to support local organizations that make a meaningful difference. One organization that has captured our hearts is the Boys & Girls Club, and we are thrilled to contribute to their mission by donating to their cause and attending their annual auction fundraiser at the Salem Convention Center.
The Boys & Girls Club plays a vital role in our community by providing young people with essential after-school programs, mentorship, academic support, and a safe space to grow. Their programs are designed to help kids and teens reach their full potential, both academically and socially, while instilling valuable life skills that foster caring, productive, and responsible citizenship.
By empowering the next generation, the Boys & Girls Club helps youth navigate challenges, discover their strengths, and build confidence. The impact of their work can be seen in the countless success stories of kids who have gone on to achieve great things in their communities and careers. They are shaping future leaders, and we’re proud to support such a vital cause.
At ServiceMaster, our dedication to helping the Boys & Girls Club goes beyond donations and events. We are personally invested in their mission, as our president, Brian, has a special connection to the organization. In fact, Brian met his beautiful wife, Kelly, while they both worked at the Boys & Girls Club right after college—a story that reflects the deep, lasting relationships built through their programs.
Supporting the Boys & Girls Club is not just a business decision for us; it’s a way to give back to the community that has supported us throughout the years. We are honored to stand alongside them in their mission to uplift and inspire the next generation of leaders.
Together, we can make a difference and create a brighter future for our community. We encourage everyone to find ways to support local organizations like the Boys & Girls Club and invest in the well-being and success of our youth.
Let’s continue to work together to ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive!

United for Children: Protecting the Future Together
ServiceMaster of Salem is honored to partner with Liberty House Child Abuse Assessment Center in raising awareness and taking a stand against child abuse in our community. Over the years, we have proudly worn jeans on Fridays in April, Child Abuse Prevention Month, as a visible sign of support for this vital cause, and we encourage everyone to join us!
ServiceMaster had an incredible time participating in Liberty House’s Jean Day Campaign, fostering conversations about prevention and raising crucial funds. We are immensely proud of our employees for their dedication and generosity.
You, too, can make an impact by joining Jean Day Fridays throughout April! Simply wear denim and contribute $5 (or more) to support child abuse prevention. Donations can be made in person at ServiceMaster of Salem or online. Every contribution helps Liberty House continue providing essential assessment services in a safe, child-friendly environment for children in Marion and Polk Counties.
Our dedication to Liberty House extends beyond April. Over the years, the golf tournament has helped raise substantial funds, directly benefiting Liberty House and its mission. In 2018, during our 10th Annual Charity Golf Classic, we were privileged to present $10,000 each to Liberty House and the Alzheimer’s Network of Oregon. The success of this event was made possible by the hard work of our sponsors, participants, and golf committee, and we are deeply grateful for their efforts.
Our Sales Representatives, Gary and Paco, recently attended the Annual Liberty House Luncheon, where they experienced firsthand the remarkable work being done. As the only provider of specialized child abuse assessment services in the area, Liberty House plays a vital role in preventing child abuse, neglect, trauma, and grief, offering hope to families in need.
ServiceMaster of Salem proudly supports Liberty House at key events such as the Chefs for Liberty House Dinner & Auction and the Champions for Children Luncheon. We deeply appreciate the opportunity to contribute to their mission and the essential work they do for our communities.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Liberty House for their unwavering dedication to protecting children and supporting families. Together, we can prevent child abuse and create a safer future for the next generation.
Help us make a difference! Wear denim, donate, and spread awareness.

Supporting Our 911 Dispatchers: A Caffeine-Fueled Thank You
In 2023, we proudly partnered with the Salem Fire Foundation to donate a state-of-the-art espresso and coffee maker to the Willamette Valley Communications Center. This initiative was a meaningful way to support the dedicated dispatchers who work tirelessly behind the scenes, ensuring our community receives the emergency assistance it needs.
Dispatchers are the first point of contact in times of crisis, handling critical calls and coordinating lifesaving efforts 24/7. Their role is essential, demanding both focus and resilience. By providing them with a high-quality coffee machine, we hope to offer a small token of appreciation—keeping them energized as they continue their vital work.
Our dedication to the Salem Fire Foundation extends beyond this donation. As an active Board of Directors member, Account Manager Paco Rosas takes part in monthly meetings, helping to shape initiatives that support our local first responders. Additionally, we are proud to strengthen the Foundation’s efforts through sponsorship and participation in their annual golf event and sustainers fundraising event.
We are grateful for the opportunity to give back to those who dedicate themselves to keeping our community safe. To the incredible dispatchers at the Willamette Valley Communications Center—enjoy the coffee, and thank you for all that you do!

ServiceMaster’s Dedication to Education: Supporting Corban University’s Future
At ServiceMaster, we believe that supporting education is one of the most impactful ways we can contribute to the future. That’s why we were proud to play a key role in the success of Corban University’s 2025 Scholarship Dinner, an event that raised over $130,000 to help students pursue their dreams of higher education.
As a company, we are deeply committed to investing in the next generation of leaders, innovators, and change-makers. By supporting Corban University, we are not just contributing to one event—we are investing in the future of education and providing young people with the tools they need to succeed.
Our involvement in the Scholarship Dinner was a meaningful experience. Our Account Manager, Gary Perston, was on the fundraising committee, helping promote the event and contribute to the silent auction. With the help of other generous donors, including ourselves, the combination of the silent auction and paddle fundraiser raised an incredible amount of money, all of which will go directly toward scholarships to support students in need.
At ServiceMaster, we believe in the power of education to transform lives, and we know that many students face financial barriers that can make their educational dreams difficult to achieve. That’s why supporting Corban University’s scholarship fund was so important to us. The funds raised through this event will help students cover tuition costs, buy textbooks, and ultimately make their journey toward a degree a reality.
This donation reflects our core values of community, education, and helping others thrive. By supporting Corban University, we are not only helping students today but also empowering them to shape the world of tomorrow. We are proud to play a part in their journey and look forward to seeing the incredible things they will accomplish.
Through initiatives like this, we hope to inspire others to join us in supporting education. We firmly believe that by investing in young people, we can help create a brighter future for everyone. As we continue to support causes like Corban University, we are reminded of just how powerful it is to believe in the potential of others.
