Understanding The Drying Process

Our primary goal is to restore your property as quickly as possible while providing skillful workmanship and excellent customer service. Drying and restoration frequently include the following three phases:

PHASE 1: Emergency Service

First, a ServiceMaster technician assesses the damage and informs you of the necessary steps and approximate cost. Work can begin as soon as we receive a signed Statement of Authorization. If the carpet or other materials can be saved, we begin water extraction immediately. Powerful air movers and dehumidifiers are then used to complete the drying of carpet, sub-floor, and other materials. The technicians will explain how long the equipment must be left on for the best results. We also treat affected areas as needed to protect against mold and microbial growth.

Job Site Inspections

Regular access to the property during business hours at all stages of the drying process is necessary, because this allows us to monitor the moisture levels, temperature, and other conditions. We will work with you to arrange a method for gaining re-entry into your home or commercial facility so we can ensure that the drying process proceeds correctly.

PHASE 2: Reinstallation/Cleaning

If the carpet was able to be restored, new carpet pad may still be necessary, in which case we would restretch and reattach the carpeting. Affected areas are thoroughly cleaned, leaving a clean slate for you to carry on with your life. Carpets, upholstery, and other surfaces are cleaned, and any remaining drying equipment is removed.

PHASE 3: Structural Repairs

If you experience structural damage, the repairs begin once the drying is complete. Ceilings, floors, and drywall will be repaired, and new carpets will be installed if the old ones could not be rescued. Depending on the type and extent of the structural damage, this phase may occur prior to reinstallation and cleaning.
