A clean environment is one thing that was maybe taken for granted a few months ago, but is top of mind for most people these days. One local and family-owned company that has helped to both stop the spread as well as clean up after COVID-19 is Servicemaster Restore by Fuson.
Three of Servicemaster by Fuson’s staff have helped to apply their expertise to those in need over the past several months. Shawn Warren, project manager, Frank St. John, senior project manager and Michelle Lyke, account manager with Servicemaster have donned PPE and got to work helping make our region clean and safe.
“Given their backgrounds and knowledge, we were able to secure PPE to keep Shawn, Frank and Michelle safe as they help business. They have worked on everything from small businesses to manufacturing facilities and large warehouses,” said Sarah Fuson, Servicemaster’s controller, marketing lead the wife of co-owner Dennis Fuson, who nominated the team to be featured in the Daily News’ Modern Heroes series. “They all have families at home and they have been working nonstop, often on nights and weekends. All three have gone far outside the normal scope of their roles to help bring businesses, employees and customers peace of mind as things begin to open up. They are some of the best employees we’ve ever had.”
The company normally covers mid-Michigan, but recently they have traveled to Metro Detroit and southeast Michigan to help with additional demand for cleaning services.
Overall, Servicemaster was historically built on creating clean, safe and healthy environments. Not much has changed with COVID-19 in terms of service offerings in relation to the virus. The company has two main types of services, including pre-cleaning measures, which helps to prepare the business to help stop the spread of the virus. The company also provides post-contamination help, after the virus has spread.
In this time of fear and uncertainty, there are groups and individuals in the Greater Midland Area who are stepping up to help, proving themselves as heroes. They may not wear capes or have superpowers, but their efforts are instilling hope, oftentimes at the risk of their own health and safety. To honor these folks, the Daily News has launched a Modern Heroes initiative, where people can highlight the work others are doing in the community.
