5 Ways to Beat Kitchen Sink Odors

When there’s an odor in your kitchen and your not sure where it is coming from, a likely culprit can be your sink. The kitchen sink tends to get neglected and over time leftover food that goes down, the drain can start causing bad odors. Avoid a stinky sink by trying our five tricks. 

Boiled Water

Boil a pot of water and pour it down your drain to flush out any food that may be rotting inside of your drain. You want to use extra hot water to kill any bacteria. You should do this at least once a week to combat any potential odors. 

Baking Soda

Put a cup full of baking soda down the drain. Let it sit for a while to absorb. Baking soda will eliminate any smells and keep your sink fresh. After some time, rinse your sink thoroughly with hot water. 

Orange/Lemon Rinds

Instead of throwing your rinds away, use them to make your sink smell wonderful. Turn on the water and your garbage disposal. This is a great natural alternative instead of using chemicals.

Vinegar

White vinegar is often used to clean naturally. Using it to combat odors is great because the white vinegar will overpower whatever is causing the bad smell and cleanse your sink at the same time.

Borax

Borax is a really powerful cleaning agent. Place a small amount of borax in the sink with ice and turn on your disposal.
