About Gordon County, GA
Conveniently located along the stretch of I-75 between
Atlanta and Chattanooga, Gordon County sits in the northwestern corner of Georgia.
As of the 2020 United States Census, there were 57,544 residents in the region. The County was officially
designated in February or 1850 by the Georgia General Assembly, presiding
over lands originally occupied by
New Echota, the last seat of the Cherokee Nation. American occupation in the territory began 20 years prior, in 1830, when
the land that now comprises Gordon County was divided into sections, districts,
and lots and
redistributed to American colonialists in a land lottery.
Today, Gordon County is a bustling region that offers many activities.
Local and visitors can paddle in the surrounding rivers and lakes, tour
farms, and hike scenic nature trails. The area is also home to
The ROCK Garden, an eccentric artistic mecca offering 50+ hand-built miniature stone structures
(including Cinderella’s castle, Notre Dame, etc.). Gordon County
is a lovely destination for fine dining, entertainment, shopping, and
lodging accommodations year-round. The area becomes especially festive
during the summertime Northwest Georgia regional fair.
