Do you have fun at work? We do! If you do love your job or not, today is a good day to find what at least makes you smile when you are at work. For our staff here are some of our ways to have a little fun during the day.
First of all, we have a great team that works very well together. As a result, we can always call on each other for help when we get stuck on something and know that each one of us is not on our own to solve problems. While not everyone has that much support in every job, take a moment to appreciate those that you know you can count on while at work. Hopefully, those that you support will also take the time to let you know how much they appreciate you.
We also recap the work at the end of each day and discuss what still needs to be done at the beginning of the next day. At that point, we take the time to find the humor in the situation no matter what happened. That takes down the stress everyone feels about that project. You certainly can't laugh in the moment when something is going wrong, but taking the time at the end of the day to laugh about it helps make you feel better about your job. For example, when we have excessive rain many customers need extraction in basements and crawlspaces. My tech came back to the office yesterday covered in mud! He had it all over his clothes, in his hair, INSIDE his phone case, you get the picture. He found the humor in having to shower here and wipe down his phone and phone case before being able to get in his personal vehicle to go home. This morning he was joking about karma dragging him through the mud for some reason (quite literally).
Sometimes just sharing personal experiences with each other makes the days at work better too. My co-worker and I have become very good friends over the past few years. Our stories can be quite entertaining when pertaining to what is happening at work. My tech was working in a crawlspace when a snake fell out of the vapor barrier and landed on his shoulder. It was a harmless rat snake and the tech was startled but fine. He explained that he is okay with spiders but was not thrilled to encounter a snake on the job. My co-worker said that spiders are fine for her, but she doesn't like snakes. 2 days later, she was bitten by a brown recluse spider while hanging out at a friend's house. Now we joke in the office that we won't say what we don't like to encounter because we don't want to experience that right after saying it.
Finding what we love about our jobs makes us happy to be at work and it shows. We love talking to our customers on the phone. We also socialize with adjusters creating a friendly environment to help those people that they insure. Our technicians take their time at each job to make the customer feel comfortable and make sure we don't miss anything that needs our attention. When we are happy, it is easier to make you feel better about your situation. Best of all, our team has been together for a long time so we can easily work together to give you the best service possible.
